I'm not sure about comparisons with award availability, but AA has a marketing campaign known as "More Room Throughout Coach", nicknamed MRTC.

They are the only major in the United States to offer more room throughout coach to all coach passengers. You can read more about MRTC by visiting http://www.aa.com/content/urls/moreroom.jhtml.

The American Airlines AAdvantage program is one of the best in the country. There are tons of ways to pile up your miles, including AA flights and other AAdvantage airline partners including members of the world's best airline alliance - the oneworld alliance, everyday purchases via the Citi/AAdvantage card, dining via the AAdvantage Dining program, cereal via the American/Kellogg's promotion, groceries in certain areas, hotels, car rentals, long distance, local phone service and cell phone service via AT&T, financial services, retail and online shopping, vacations, cruises and much much more!

To learn more about the AAdvantage program including ways to earn and redeem miles, visit the AAdvantage website located at http://www.aa.com/apps/AAdvantage/AAdvantageHome.jhtml.

Right now, Citibank and AA are running a special offer where if you sign up for the Citi/AAdvantage Platinum Select Personal World MasterCard and/or the Citi/AAdvantage Platinum Select Small Business World Mastercard they will give you 10,000 bonus miles after your first purchase, a $25 travel certificate for use on your next flight with AA, and a 6-month annual fee waiver, not to mention the 1 mile per every dollar you purchase available on all Citi/AAdvantage cards.
