lucky, i don't think i'm misunderstanding you, but the expiration of the elite status is the same, regardless if a challenge is involved. the qualification period is always the same, jan 1-dec 31. he would qualify for Preimer Exec upon having flown 50K miles (or with the challenge, 15K miles) thru the end of the current year, AND end of the following year, PLUS thru jan/feb of the year after that. so during 2010, whether someone flies 50K by apr 2010, nov 2010, sep 2010, or does all that flying just during the month of jan 2010 alone, they get a card good thru jan/feb 2011 & another one at the beginning of 2011 good thru jan/feb 2012.

so if you qualify on dec 31, your status is good for 13 or 14 months. but if you qualify on jan 31, then your status is good for 24 or 25 months.

sound right? you qualify this year, and get one card good thru the beginning of next year, AND another card thru the beginning of the year after.
