I have stayed at every SPG hotel in the VA Beach area many times. I know them all well. Specifically in the City of VB, there are two properties, the Sheraton VB and the Westin VB.

Westin = Not on the beach... about 15 min away in "downtown" VB (downtown = their new planned downtown as VB does not have a real downtown). The westin is beautiful, brand new, and I always get an upgrade to a great corner room. There's a new downtown with good restaurants but you're not at the beach. Oh... and they dont have a club lounge right now.

Sheraton = Location, Location, Location. It's older, musty, has standard rooms, and few frills. However, its right on the beach, the views are great, the free bfast is very good, the pool is decent, the staff is nice. I have taken my family here and been here for business many times. You're not going to be upgraded to a monster suite but the location is what sells it. I stay there often and will stay again.

When I go down for work, I usually look at the weather and decide... do I want a no-frills room on the beach with great bfast, the boardwalk, etc. or a nice room in 10 miles from the beach. Depends on my mood. I like them both.
