I would suggest that there was no "policy." There may have been a "practice" but that is entirely different. One of the themes that comes up over and over on FT is consistency. Marriott's policy is that silver does not qualify for auto upgrades. You benefited from the practice of a specific property and now are upset because they are following policy. If policy had been consistently applied from the beginning, this would be a non-thread.
