I would keep calling the exp desk and nicely plead your case. If you purchased a tkt up front, or used miles/evip to upgrade at the time of making your reservation, an argument can be made that you purchased a specific product that they've marketed. Ask them to reaccommodate you. While they don't have to, you might just find the right aagent.
