Specialist: "What type of bonus are you looking for?" Me: "I understand you may offer a lower interest rate, waive on the annual fee or additional frequent flyer miles." Specialist "I am sorry sir but we have no such offers." I say "In that case you could please tell me the steps I need to take to cancel my credit card." He says "I can do that for you right now over the phone, would you like me to proceed?" Me, "No thanks."

I think they are on to it but I will give it another try tomorrow evening. Anyone have better luck or a better way of going about it?
How much have you spent on the card? Retention bonuses aren't always offered if you've only spent the bare minimum. Think about it like this, why would Chase want to keep someone who only charged $2k to get the bonus versus someone who charged $25k over the same period? I've noticed, specifically for Citi, that the more your monthly spending, the sweeter the retention bonuses. I'm not positive this holds true for Chase, I'm just speculating.
