westin river north is far superior than W LS in terms of infrastructure and service. many rooms have a great river view. the W is fun, and the lake view is beautiful but the rooms are just a lot nicer at the westin.
in addition, the platinum perks at at the westin, upgrade, lounge, club level free shoe shine, news papers... just kills the W.

Bollocks.. I had a colleague stay at the Westin Michigan Avenue and the room was crap and not refurbished at all. This was in December. I stayed at the Westin River North last summer for a wedding and it was definitely nothing to brag about. No view and a tiny, old room. The suite at the W Lakeshore I visited recently was fresh and I don't recognize what you're describing at all. You have been unlucky.
And yes, I heard you the first 6 times. I think we should wait for newer reviews.
