And every airport has it's share of fools, some more than others. I suspect if a TA had to get involved, though, something was wrong with the BP. Just a guess.
Terminal A. Don't recall the shift - I used to be through there a lot. The ID checker kept saying "that airline doesn't operate from this concourse", supe backed him up, TA was called to verify that it was, in fact, an airline code share that operated out of that concourse.
