I've given up on the Big 3 for my phone service. And yes, in the process I have given up the frequent flyer direct point linkages. But the amount saved can be converted to points by donating it to a charity such as Erin Go Bragh.

I now use ECG service, which offers 4.9 interstate per minute. Their calls go over qwest lines. They bill in 6 second increments, with 18 seconds minimum per call. There is NO monthly fee. Details of their plan can be found at: http://abtolls.com/ecg.htm

Take the $4.95 a month you save from the other plans and convert it via charity like Erin Go Bragh at 15 points per dollar you get 75 points per month.

The ECG plan just happens to work for my calling patterns, but there are different plans in different states that offer similar deals suited better to other patterns. Check out the ABTolls main comparison page for your state at: http://abtolls.com/intrast.htm

Cheers!
