I just found out that effective February 1, AA has changed the time between making a reservation to use a senior coupon and picking up your ticket. Before this you could make a reservation months in advance, but you did not have to "buy" the ticket until just before the flight. Thus no fee if you changed or cancelled your reservation.
Now you must buy your within 14 days of the reservation.
Senior coupons are still a good deal on cross country flights for old farts like me. By the way, for shorter domestic flights and some international flights, the Active American program for seniors is very good.
