I hate to say it, but the hotel's response and service offerings were appropriate. The Ritz brand does not offer any of the Marriott elite perqs so anything you want above what you reserved, you have to pay for. We've gotten spoiled over the years (I know I have!). Award stays are reimbursed at minimal levels to the properties so there is little incentive to start throwing in amenities for free other than defined benefits, which there are none of at a Ritz.

I probably would have stopped at a bottle shop for some bubbly at regular retail prices but I might have sprung for the rose petal turndown - I bet she would have loved it.
