I got the promo in the mail today. It said "... because you are an American Airlines Executive Platinum,..."

I stay in Hyatts from time to time, but always via Priceline (the Hyatt Cambridge comes up sometimes in the summer, as do various other Hyatts on weekends). On those stays, I don't even bother giving my Gold Passport number, although sometimes I succeed in getting AA miles.

When I pay anything other than Priceline rates, I almost always stay at a Hilton property because I get enough stays/year for work trips. So, there's no point in me trying to do this just to have Diamond status that I won't renew next year anyway.

Now, if there had been a Hyatt in Florence, then I would have made the effort, as I'm pretty sure I'm going there next fall and there is no Hilton property there.
