TATL Z-Fares: No more U/G's to F and no business class bonus miles!!
Was just browsing through some ticket rules for TATL business class fares on LH and came across this:
Z CLASS FARES ARE NOT UPGRADABLE TO FIRST CLASS.
NEITHER MILEAGE NOR CERTIFICATES MAY BE USED TO
UPGRADE THIS FARE.
PASSENGERS WISHING TO HAVE THE OPTION TO UPGRADE
SHOULD PURCHASE C OR D CLASS PER THE RULES OF
THOSE SPECIFIC FARES.
CORPORATE VOLUME DISCOUNTS ARE ALSO NOT PERMITTED.
Z CLASS FARES ACCRUE BASE MILES AND ELITE STATUS
BONUS MILES BUT ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR CABIN/CLASS
OF SERVICE BONUS MILES.
I checked this for several TATL routes, both into Germany as well as to other European destinations and it seems to be true for each route that I checked.
If that's true (especially no class of service bonus miles), then it would be a major downside
