Since you won't have much time in 3 days to do much outside your resort, I'd base it on where you can find a good hotel deal. If you could get a decent package at Sandy Lane, for instance, I'm sure you'd be happy.
We did a week in Barbados a few years ago and would go back. It benefits from having quite a few things to see and good places to eat outside of the resorts, but frankly for 3 nights this is unlikely to be an issue.
I'd also consider flight times if its only 3 nights, for both arriving and leaving, as this alone may swing it given the short trip duration.
(PS. We also have a few nights off in January and are off to Cape Town. This does work very well if you are leaving the kids - see the kids in the day, evening overnight flight, land at 9am, 4 full days / 3 nights there, fly back at 8pm, back home in time for the kids getting up.)
