If you're truly going to be traveling together, I'd say that having one with higher status is more valuable. You will both have the higher status for things like upgrades, lounge access should you travel internationally, at least one will get a snack and a drink on Eagle flights.
Of course, if you guys aren't flying enough to make GLD with travel each year, I'm not sure that the status is going to mean much in practice.
