What on earth is a Diplomat? My few experiences with friends/colleagues' broken luggage is that it's the luggage, or luggage packing, rather than handling. It's not a mystery that baggage handlers aren't exactly treating the stuff like it's crystal stemware for the holidays....bags should be able to withstand being lobbed into the back of the luggage compartment
