Actually, I'm liking the idea of no carry-ons at all better every day. Force people to check all their luggage, pay the fees and have their stuff stolen - air travel will plummet and the airlines will finally say "enough, already" and that will spell the end for the TSA.
I really hope that the OP wasn't poking around in the PV archives. On one thread I commented that TSA might consider tooth powder a liquid because you can pour it out of the container. Some folks took it seriously and ran with it for a ways. Now if the clown posse over at TSA ran with it as well and now call tooth powder a liquid....
