I have never paid a resort fee unless it was announced to me (and agreed to by me) at the time of the reservation.......and in writing on the confirmation email or fax. At times upon check-in I will get a surprise form stating I agree to the following charges..... or whatever. If forced I sign but note "NOT DISCLOSED TO OR AGREED TO WHEN RESERVED" on the form. If the hotel does not remove the charges at check-out, I notify the hotel I will sign no further forms with them, and I will dispute the charges with with my credit card issurer.
BOTTOM LINE: To date, I have NEVER had to pay one of these devious rediculous non-disclosed "resort" fees. They were removed either on the spot by the hotel or negotated later by my cc company. Oh yes, I would never stay at that rip-off hotel again (ie "resort" or recommend it to anyone). Itsa total rip-off.
