UA_Flyer points out above, 747 service IAD-NRT is only projected until 3/27/2010; after that point, it's unknown if it will revert to 777 or stay with the 747.

It's pretty much impossible to predict with certainty what type of plane United will fly NRT-IAD 10 months from now. If it's a 777, chances are favor an old cabin. If it's a 747, the conversions should be done and you'll be in the new seats.
