I think it is related.
One the difficulties we have in this discussion is that certain posters think that anyone who doesn't like a company publicly thanking the military obviously "hates" the military (and probably America too). What I aimed to do her is show how just as the concierge was dead wrong about his supposition of my command of the English language (through his assumption), so too is his assumption about my hatred for this country ill-founded. He has egg on his face for the claim about argumentation not being a word. He also should have it with respect to his claim about me hating America.
So that's the relevance.
