It is no longer possible to put a reservation on hold through united.com.
Please note that any reservation booked through united.com can be canceled within 24 hours of purchase for a full refund.

This is really annoying. I usually put tix on hold after 12am so I can hold them for 2 days.
+1 to putting tix on hold after 12, I actually just did this technically yesterday and I guess I have one of the last held itins around as of now
