I used to see the Manchester trio of BDAS, BDAT as the 1-11s and BDAN the 727 before it hit the mountain, on a regular basis in my youth. I remember the Comet 4s well. I flew in the 1-11s but not the other types. There were also regular 748 operations on the milk run from Bournemouth to Scotland via all intermediate stations too. Then there were the runs up to Scatsta and other Shetland destinations.

I did jumpseat a 1-11 on LGW-MAN once with a Captain that lived down the road from me. He had three stunning daughters....

I now teach the Dan Air crash at Tenerife North on my courses.
