I see rates of $338 on SPG and $337.50 at speedy, so I guess this is still a BRG win if you want to go thru the hoops. I would hope there are some more competitive offers given the economic downturn, but I enjoyed my stay here enough to justify a low $300 rate.

Just saw this thread. I stayed there from Oct 4-8, 2008 for $337.50/night (had SPG take 10% off expedia's rate, which took a lot more work than it was worth), also in a St. Regis Suite. Asked about the SPG Platinum upgrade... told me I'd already been upgraded to their preferred floor (no villa for me)... not sure how much nicer it was, but the room was great. I also asked about using points to upgrade, and whatever the number was, it was ridiculous... at $.02/point, it turned out to be way pricier than initially booking a villa.
