Depending on how important travelling on a Virgin ticket is (i.e. do you want Virgin airmiles), consider looking at buying Continental tickets on Virgin codeshare flights.
This is what I do when I want to travel Upper Class (am paying £1599 + tax, per person, for LGW-MIA return next week). You have to shop around for these sort of prices though. I have got/seem some good deals on Continental tickets for Virgin flights on the following sites:
