And explain that you are eagerly waiting for the points to reach EBG. If you have some itinerary document showing that you had your EB no in the booking, and never intended to credit the flights to some other program, I think they can upgrade your status before the points are there (I have had it done EBB->EBS).
(But it is indeed a very annoying problem if the original bps disappear on their way to Thailand
