I think the reason I’m not too bothered at showing my ID for CC transactions is that I look young for my age, and up until around 5 years ago I was “carded” for beer and cigarette purchases on a regular basis. When I was in my early 20s, I even carried my passport sometimes if I thought I would get hassled by a clerk that thought my out of State DL was not legit.
