I just put a ticket on hold, same route MIA-CDG for next week. Fare is $750.
If I decide to purchase this ticket with my credit with AA
It's going to be $1200-750 = $450 - $150 (change fee)= $300
So if I understand correctly, I will have $300 left with AA, how do I collect that $300 and if I can't make my trip again and cancel, I'll have a credit with AA for the new ticketed price of $750 or my initial credit of $1200.
I hope it's not too confusing, sorry
When you book the new flight, they'll send you a voucher for the balance ($300), which you can use towards payment for future flights. If you cancel again, then rebook, you'll have another $150 to pay out of the $750 left from the original ticket.
