AA takes this stuff seriously - see this thread about a FT member caught selling corporate travel agency upgrade certificates on e-bay. As to what AA will do, that's really up to them, isn't it? I don't know that they can deactivate the code unless the travel agency kept records of which ones they gave to who, but since the seller knows the name and address he sold them to, they can check to see if the buyer has an AAdvantage account. Since they know that both seller and buyer are knowingly trying to cheat them, they can pretty much do what they want.
