You’re On A Plane and You See This, WYD?

We would have said it better if we could have, but the title of this now-viral video of a wheel catching on fire and then falling off of a plane just as it takes off is pretty perfect.

What would you do? We mean, other than flag down a flight attendant and hope that they don’t look as terrified as you feel?

Don’t Panic

While this is one of the scarier sights you can see out of a plane’s window, you should know that all 49 people on this Air Canada Express flight, operated by Jazz Aviation, were fine. Originally, this plane was headed to Saguenay-Bagotville Airport to Montreal for a flight that takes around an hour.

But, when the pilot of the De Havilland Canada Dash 8 turned back to Montreal once the wheel fell off, after burning some fuel. And they likely weren’t as terrified as the passenger who spotted the wheel out of the window.

The plane has six tires, and “our pilots are well trained to deal with such situations and responded according to our standard operating procedures,” Jazz Aviation said in a statement. The plane is fine too and is being inspected and repaired in Montreal.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada says it is gathering information on the incident. Investigators have already been “in contact with the operator’s maintenance organization” to determine what went wrong, according to a spokesperson for the safety board.
