Delta Cargo has launched a new partnership with a start-up that focuses on safety and care for pets when animals are traveling on a plane; the company is called CarePod and the partnership is long-term—it will have perks like real-time updates for pet owners on how their animals are doing, and more.
Delta is looking for a way to make air travel for pets less stressful. To that end, the airline has partnered with CarePod, a technology start-up that focuses on keeping pets safe and cared for during flights.
“Demand for pet shipments is strong and we are always looking for ways to create a best-in-class travel experience for pets and their owners,” Shawn Cole, Vice President of Delta Cargo, said in a release. “Working with a start-up like CarePod allows Delta the flexibility to enhance our service in new and innovative ways. We are able to think big, start small and learn fast to solve specific customer needs.”
The new partnership will include perks for pet owners like real-time updates throughout the flight and a staff veterinarian.
“Our innovative use of technology and breakthrough engineering solutions are matched by our passion for pet safety, comfort and security,” Jenny Pan, founder and CEO of CarePod, said in the release. “Our goal is to transform the future of pet travel, and to be able to work with Delta in delivering a better experience for its customers is an exciting step.”
These features come on top of the already-implemented ground handling staff, temperature-controlled holding spaces, real-time GPS, and kennel services.
