Worst Passenger of the Week: I Am a Mother of Seven Children & Vladimir Putin Will Kill You

Every Friday, FlyerTalk looks back at the week’s most charming individuals. While there are always plenty of contenders for our Worst Passenger of the Week award, only one lucky flyer can take home the glory.

The Runners-up — The Three Stooges

Drinking, smoking and singing the night away sounds like a great way for three friends to bond at the pub while taking an overseas vacation together. Unfortunately for fellow passengers aboard an Aer Lingus flight this week from Shannon Airport (SNN) to Logan International Airport (BOS), these three Irish tourists couldn’t wait for their holiday to begin and the same behavior that might have been charming during a night on the town, was considerably less charming at 35,000 feet.

Ciara Sugoue, a passenger on the flight, said flight attendants attempted several times to get the reveling flyers to quiet down. “It didn’t really help much.”

The cabin crew eventually gave up trying to control the group and simply asked other passengers on the flight to make sure the three hard-drinking tourists remained in their seats. “Those guys, they just had some liquor to drink, I think, and they were just a little bit out of control,” John Vesper, one of the passengers tasked with keeping an eye on the rambunctious flyers, told a Boston television station.

Police who met the rowdy tourists at the gate, took the trio into custody “until they sobered-up.” Officials in Boston say they have no plans to file charges against the three Irish visitors.

The Winner — The Red Menace

As far as threats go, “I am a mother of seven children and Vladimir Putin will kill you,” is a fairly chilling statement. The fact that the not-at-all-veiled threat was issued by a visibly drunk passenger and caught on video, makes it considerably less likely that anyone needs to worry about being covertly poisoned with polonium-210.

When security officials attempted to remove an intoxicated woman from an Aeroflot flight from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) to Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO) in Moscow this week, chaos ensued. Luckily, fellow passengers managed to capture the compelling events on video. The intoxicated woman can be seen on the cell phone video posted to YouTube waving her arms wildly to keep security officers at bay while crying uncontrollably. The drunk flyer can clearly be heard issuing the chilling threat in English with a strong Russian accent.

The crazed passenger’s boast of having seven children did little to garner sympathy from others on board. Another flyer is heard shouting, “Go on then” as officials tried to remove the agitated mom from the plane.

According to reports from other passengers on the flight, the irate passenger had allegedly been drinking “copious amounts of vodka” in the business lounge before the flight and was “rude to the flight crew” after boarding the plane.

The out-of-control woman was eventually removed from the flight which departed for SVO after just over an hour-long delay.
