World’s Busiest Airport Beats High Score

On Sunday, the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport set the world record for most passengers served in a year, with 100 million guests served.

The 100 millionth himself, Larry Kendrick of Gulfport, Missippi, was surprised to be gifted with a Nissan Altima, two free Delta round trip tickets and a $500 gift card. Journalists and onlookers documented his impromptu, confused walk down a red carpet with Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, who presented him with the rewards.

Despite national paranoia and tensions in home security, Hartsfield-Jackson general manager Miguel Southwell reports that the busy Atlanta airport has seen a 5 percent increase in business in 2015.
