World of Hyatt and American Offer Holiday Status Challenges

Travelers who have plenty of holiday adventures ahead can take advantage of a mutual status challenge between partners World of Hyatt and American Airlines AAdvantage.
Frequent flyers who have status with American Airlines AAdvantage or World of Hyatt can take advantage of a holiday special to get even more perks.

The partner programs are offering a special status challenge through the holiday season, offering elites of either brand a chance to double their rewards when they register by Wednesday, November 30, 2022.

Programs Offer Tier Options for Program Elite Members

Both programs are offering their elite members who have their accounts linked the chance to match their status for a limited time. World of Hyatt elites can get increased status aboard American Airlines, while American AAdvantage frequent flyers can get a higher tier in the hotel loyalty program.

World of Hyatt Explorist and Globalist members can gain complimentary AAdvantage status when they link their accounts and sign up through Hyatt’s website. After linking accounts by December 12, 2022 and registering by December 28, 2022, Hyatt members can pick up Platinum or Platinum Pro status for four months.

Explorist members will get AAdvantage Platinum status and must earn at least 25,000 Loyalty Points before the end of the status match period to keep their status. Globalist elites can upgrade to AAdvantage Platinum Pro and earn 42,000 Loyalty Points to keep it after the promotion ends. Both members can move up to the highest tier, Executive Platinum, by earning 67,000 Loyalty Points during the promo period.

On the World of Hyatt side, all eligible American AAdvantage elites can get trial Explorist status for 90 days when they register for the promotion by November 30, 2022. To keep Explorist status through February 2024, elites must earn 10 Tier Qualifying nights in the 90-day trial period. AAdvantage Platinum Pro and Executive Platinum flyers can pick up Globalist status through February 2024 if they get 20 Tier Qualifying nights during the trial period.

American AAdvantage flyers can earn Loyalty Points in a variety of ways, ranging from spending on airfare to qualifying spending on their AAdvantage co-branded credit cards. On the World of Hyatt side, elites earn Tier Qualifying nights by booking an eligible rate or award night through Hyatt channels, including MGM Resorts. As with all promotions, terms and conditions apply.

Hyatt Elite Play Comes as Brand Continues to Expand

The push to add more elites to World of Hyatt comes as the company is making another big push into the world of luxury travel. The Chicago-based hotelier also announced their plans to purchase an affiliate of Dream Hotel Group, adding more luxury properties from the Dream Hotels, The Chatwal Hotels and Unscripted Hotels brands in destinations including Las Vegas, St. Lucia and Doha.

Is this challenge available if I'm already EX Plat?  How long does the newly earned status last if I complete the 67K LPs?
