Will Publicly Shaming A Sandwich Make It Better?
Here’s the thing, it’s kind of hard to mess up a sandwich. But is it possible? Absolutely.
A British Airways passenger publicly shamed her Chicken Caesar and Slow Roast Tomato Seeded Roll on a Facebook group called “British Airways Complaints Advice.” Jo Henderson-Tchertoff posted two pictures of the sandwich handed to her by an embarrassed flight attendant on a London Heathrow (LHR) to John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) flight.
The contents of the sandwich, from what can be gathered from the image, is simple but haphazardly assembled. On one half of the roll, there seems to be questionable chicken spread, and maybe two wilted lettuce leaves. The other half is smeared with mayonnaise. The “slow roast tomato” seems to be missing.

“BA catering getting worse,” Henderson-Tchertoff captioned the photos. In the comments section, she added that “Even the steward was embarrassed and said he wished he didn’t have to serve it.”
This is definitely not the worst of sandwiches (or airplane food). Even with the missing tomato, it still looks edible.
One commenter, Simon Rowland, asked: “What’s wrong with it? I assume the tomato is under the chicken.” To which Henderson-Tchertoff responded, “Apparently it is in the ‘sauce’ — don’t know where the chicken was though.”
As far as sandwiches go, who can forget the most disappointing sandwich to ever land on the hands of hungry Fyre Fest attendees. This was the “world-class” cuisine they were promised and paid thousands for. Even with two slices of tomatoes, this is a sandwich that ranks highly on the list of worst sandwiches.
The dinner that @fyrefestival promised us was catered by Steven Starr is literally bread, cheese, and salad with dressing. #fyrefestival pic.twitter.com/I8d0UlSNbd

And then we have this sandwich that is clearly not lacking tomatoes. We can shame this sandwich.

Can you identify the contents of the last sandwich?

I was thinking assorted veggies with some sort of larvae.
Looks like a top ramen with some veggies thrown on bread...strange.
I think it does matter but only because British Airways and other airlines are particularly intent on telling us about the outstanding on board experience we can expect. People choose BA expecting a higher standard product, economy class or otherwise, and BA would be happy to be seen as a premium airline offering premium level services to all its customers. On one of my recent BA flights in Club Wolrd from Tokyo the mid-flight Club kitchen was nothing like that described in the menu - one sorry sandwich and a packet or two of crisps were available alongside a basket of mini mars bars. BA is well-known for a hidden cost cutting at every corner and passengers aren’t shy in taking a photo and putting the airline to shame.
Sandwich?!? From Pic1 I thought this was Coquilles St Jacques!?! #ThisIsNotASandwich
