What’s the Worst Airline Slogan You’ve Ever Heard?

FlyerTalker PlatinumScum posed this question in the American Airlines forum:

[Is there a] worse airline slogan than “going for great?” Just wondering if any airline has ever had a more cringe-worthy slogan than American Airlines’ current one.

And FlyerTalkers shared some of the airline industry’s funniest, most cringeworthy slogans like…

Yeti Airlines: You Come First

This one is an epically unfortunate turn of phrase that wasn’t lost on the vandals that defaced this sign in Kathmandu’s airport (and drew official censure from local authorities).

United: Flyer Friendly

This, as airline slogans go, is actually not that bad. Or at least it was, until that infamous, unfortunate incident with David Dao turned “Flyer Friendly” into an unfortunate joke.

American Airlines: We Know Why You Fly

Although this slogan made for some fairly cute commercials back in the day, without those visual aids it has kind of an “I Know What You Did Last Summer” creep factor.

Continental Airlines: We Really Move Our Tail For You

OK, this one is kind of corny, but in Continental Airlines’ defense, it was the 1970s and the earnestness of simpler times has to make you smile a little.

National Airlines: I’m Cheryl. Fly Me.

This 1979 National Airlines ad campaign seems like it should have been in poor taste even back then. They even painted the poor flight attendant’s names on the plane noses and made them wear “fly me” buttons in flight.

United's "Rising" campaign to replace "the Friendly Skies" in the 1990s, was really bonehead.

I wish UA did not bring the "Friendly Skies" tagline back yet... they still need lots of culture change for that. Lots of times FAs really don't even try to care.
