“What Nonstop Route Do You Really Wish Delta Had?”

“What Nonstop Route Do You Really Wish Delta Had?”
Meg Butler

FlyerTalker tanglin posted this interesting question in the Delta forum:

A few times I have to take another carrier than Delta just because it makes no sense not to. There must be others like me, wishing that there was a route from their local airport to somewhere DL has presence.

For me it’s SNA-SFO. I have had to do this many times and have to take usually UA or WN. I really dislike Southwest but sometimes there’s no option. And all these flights are full.

What nonstop routes would you like to add to the list? Check out the answers in this forum thread and contribute your own.

    SLC or DEN to Australia . They already fly LAX/SYD daily, so maybe DEN/BNE ?

    I don’t see what’s so “interesting “about the example in the artilce. SNA is a limited service airport (due to runway and noise restrictions). No way anyone is going to get EVERY nonstop route they wish from SNA on WHATEVER airline they wish. UA flies there because SFO is their hub! Why should Delta fly there???

    More flights from CLT to places other than the east coast ATL/DTW/NYC/MSP hubs:

    * Additional flights/day to/from SLC
    * CLT-BOS
    * CLT-LAX and/or CLT-SEA

    * Restore ATL-BCN, ATL-MXP to year-round service

    DTW to ATH. Demand for service to Greece has increased in the past few years…..but no increase in service, save for the one tag-on that EK has from their DXB-ATH flight.

    It astounds me that neither AA nor UA are even considering service from ORD. It’s a hub for both, and has a large Greek population. ORD could provide connecting options from more secondary cities.

    A Midwest hub flight could definitely be a “game-changer”. If AA/UA continue to be clueless of the potential, well, it’s up for grabs for DL to make their two competitors look foolish. DTW may have less local demand for Greece, but they can certainly make up for it, from Canadians, and people connecting to Middle East destinations…..and possibly be as good as ORD-ATH service.

    A DAY-FLL flight would be appreciated. As would a DAY-SEA, DAY-YVR, or a DAY-YYZ flight would be appreciated as well.

    We once had an Air Canada non-stop to Toronto on a small turbo-prop where there was no heating once in the air. In the Summer, for such a short flight, it was bearable. Air Canada shifted their interest to Cincinnati. Leaving DAY, a really nice, very underused airport, without their service. Using a better plane might have improved the attractiveness of the Dayton to Toronto service.

    …more direct flights out of MKE without having to change at DTW, MSP, SLC or ATL.

    Would love a PDX – MKE nonstop (or even PDX -SEA – MKE through “no change” flight). Currently Alaska serves this route but only in Summer and with an RJ instead of 737 or A320.
