Martha Stewart describes herself as a “bag lady” – because of how much she lacks for a trip.
Martha Stewart travels, a lot. She has to, what with her television show with Snoop Dogg, her newly formed wine company, and book tours. She tells The New York Times that she travels once a month, at least. And there are a few things she won’t travel without:
Clothes, and lots of them
Stewart always has at least three outfit changes with her, even if just taking a car ride.
“I do not like packing,” she told the Times. “But I have to pack so often and so much. Every day in my car I have three outfits I have to bring. It’s really a pain. I’m pretty organized about it; it’s just time-consuming. Even in my own houses I always want something that’s not there, so I’m always packing. I am a bag lady.”
She once had to travel with seven carry-ons to accommodate an episode of her show that required 20 wardrobe changes.
Not just one iPad, but three
One for books, one for movies, and one for television shows. It’s mostly a space issue – she says she’s always running out and doesn’t like deleting things.
Even more clothes
That includes a lightweight shawl called a shahtoosh and workout clothes and gear.
Because no one, not even Martha Stewart, wants to eat plane food.
“I try to avoid plane food most of the time,” she told the Times. “I just don’t find it very appetizing. And my hard-boiled eggs are just so much better than any eggs on the plane. They’re from my own chickens. I take them for everybody I’m traveling with.”
Stewart always packs her own soaps – she doesn’t like the perfume content in most hotel options.
