WestJet Reconsiders “Discriminatory” Bag Policy

After some bad press on the issue, WestJet has claimed that it is reviewing its baggage policy, which appears to favor tourists traveling to Jamaica, Tobago and Trinidad above nationals making return flights to their home countries. The current WestJet policy prevents passengers from checking more than two pieces of luggage, excepting luggage such as “a golf bag containing golf clubs.”

The flashpoint for this development was a passenger whose 62-year-old mother was prevented from checking an oversized bag in order to attend a funeral in Jamaica.
