On Friday evening, a man on a flight out of Chicago’s O’Hare airport reportedly made a bomb threat as the plane took off for Sacramento.
According to Cook County prosecutors, the man, Michael Bielinski, 28, tapped his seatmate on the shoulder and told her “we’re all going to die,” the “plane is going to explode.” Then the man, who had a “strong order of kerosene,” took “what appeared to be a pipe with liquid in it and started to put a battery inside.”
The woman alerted flight attendance to his behavior and the pilot returned to Gate KF where officers were waiting to arrest Bielinski. Upon inspection, the “bomb” turned out to be an electronic vaping cigarette.
