Couple Charters a Boeing 777 for an All-Expenses Paid Vacation

A rich Florida couple wanted to take their 56 friends to the Mediterranean, so they took to the skies on a privately-chartered Boeing 777 that featured a bar with a mixologist, a wine cellar and a sommelier. When they reached the Med, they then took the party to their very own private cruise ship.

Forget being crammed in economy class; for one wealthy Florida couple, only the luxury of a privately-chartered Boeing 777 and cruise ship would do for their recent trip to Europe. Speaking to CNBC, Damon and Cindy DeSantis described this luxury experience which they shared with 56 of their friends.

“Our trip started when we boarded the Crystal Skye, which is an over-the-top private charter plane with every amenity you can imagine,” explained Cindy.

As the outlet notes, this plane is operated by cruise company Crystal. The Crystal Skye was bought by the company back in 2017. It was then retrofitted with just 88 “executive class” seats, ensuring that all passengers had a spacious ride.

At their seats, friends of the couple found iPads, Bose headphones and lie-flat beds. While guests received a champagne welcome from a “sky butler”, the flight also had a bar with a mixologist and a wine cellar with a sommelier. As for in-flight dining options, guests were treated to Michelin-inspired fare.

When the flight completed its journey to the Mediterranean, there was one small hitch, as restaurateur Damon DeSantis explains. “We couldn’t find a mega-yacht big enough to accommodate everyone. So we chartered this luxury cruise ship,” he said.

It featured a large lounge area called the Cove Bar, which served as one of the ship’s main social hubs. “The first meeting place was here for all of our guests. Cocktails and champagne were served,” explained Cindy.

In the ship’s dining area, on-board chefs catered to a wide variety of palates. “When you have 56 guests, you have a lot of different tastes. The chef was able to accommodate everyone with over-the-top meals,” she said.

The ship’s staterooms were no less luxurious, with all rooms featuring private butlers. As if all of this wasn’t enough, the cruise ship also had its very own submarine for guests to use at a whim.

When it comes to the cost of their Mediterranean excursion, the pair declined to publicly name a figure, but the outlet has estimated that it may have been in the region of $1.1 million.

However, Damon explained that he managed to save “a few hundred thousand dollars” by hiring a single jumbo jet and cruise ship in lieu of chartering “multiple” yachts and planes.

No way the whole trip was 1.1M. I might buy that for the flight only, but not for chartering a cruise ship. It would be significantly more than that I would think

Yeah, me thinks the DeSantis family (NOT the politicians) got a bit of a 'cut' for going public with this, so Crystal can remind the 0.01% they still exist and can save them money...

These comments tell me there are a lot of jealous people out there! He made the money he can spend it as he chooses, I just wish I was one of his friends!

I hate when I accidentally click on an advertisement masquerading as a story.

The article quotes 1.1 million for the whole trip. Even if we assume the plane was most of that cost, at say 800,000, split between 88 people (the number of passengers it seats), that's less than $10k pp. For an ultra first class trip to Europe. That's not bad at all.
