Virgin to Purchase 8 Airbus A350-1000s

Virgin Atlantic is reportedly set to buy eight A350-1000s from Airbus scheduled for delivery starting in 2019, as well as lease four aircraft long-term beginning in 2020. The terms of the agreement have not yet been disclosed. The aircraft is planned to deploy at Heathrow Airport (LHR) in order to strengthen Virgin’s trans-Atlantic network, and Gatwick Airport (LGW) will be the hub of Virgin routes to the Caribbean. “The A350-1000 plays a pivotal role in our fleet program, helping to create one of the youngest, cleanest, greenest fleets in the sky,” Virgin Atlantic CEO Craig Kreeger said. Service will begin when the first aircraft is delivered in May 2017 and coverage will continue through 2034.
