Vietjet Starting Two New Routes to India This December

Hoping to tap the incredible growth in aviation and tourism in both the Vietnamese and Indian markets, this December VietJet, one of Vietnam’s low-cost carriers (LCC) will be utilizing its Airbus A320s’ on non-stop flights between Vietnam’s economic hub Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and New Delhi (DEL), as well as its thriving capital Hanoi (HAN) and New Delhi.

The tentative schedule – which VietJet plans to operate from December 6, 2019 until March 28, 2020 – is as follows:

VJ895 SGN 19:00 DEL 22:50 Monday Wednesday Friday Sunday
VJ896 DEL 23:50 SGN 06:10+1 Monday Wednesday Friday Sunday

The Hanoi route will start on December 7th.

VJ971 HAN 19:10 DEL 22:50 Tuesday Thursday Saturday
VJ972 DEL 23:50 HAN 05:20+1 Tuesday Thursday Saturday

VietJet – the first Vietnamese carrier that will be flying to India – will be looking to connect the ever-growing Indian travel market with more affordable flights to its already extant routes throughout the region, including Japan, China, Indonesia, and South Korea.

Even though these flights will be some of the first to connect Vietnam and India, Indigo has preempted VietJet by announcing the start of Kolkata (CCU) – Hanoi flights from October 3rd of this year.

Importantly, since December 2017, the Vietnamese government has included India among its list of countries whose citizens are able to apply for a tourism e-visa online.
