United Flyer Refuses to Turn Off Phone, Attacks Passenger & Police

After refusing to turn off his cell phone while United Airlines Flight 5587 was taxiing, punching another passenger, and attacking a Chicago police officer called to remove him, Adam Kealing was arrested Thursday night.

UA5587, operated by SkyWest, was preparing to take off from O’Hare International Airport (ORD), bound for Dayton International Airport (DAY), when flight crew told Kealing, 31, to turn off his cell phone. Kealing repeatedly refused the crew’s request, even when his fellow passengers also urged him to turn off the device. The pilot ultimately taxied back to the gate to have him removed.

Cellphone footage of the incident showed Kealing walking to the front of the airplane and having a verbal confrontation with another passenger before punching him. The passenger who recorded the video said that Kealing appeared to be drunk.

Further footage shows a scuffle between Kealing and the Chicago police, including Kealing allegedly striking one of the officers as they wrestled him to the ground. Kealing now faces four misdemeanor charges, including resisting arrest and battery causing bodily harm.

Sure wish there was a way for the TSA to catch crazy people and druggies before they enter the airport. What a nut case.

But this was recorded on a phone that was on? Or does it mean that he would not put it in airplane mode?

Nice irony, the guy asked to turn his phone off being recorded on a mobile phone...
