US Airways Flight Hits Runway Lights

An incident involving a US Airways flight at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT) is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The Airbus A321, en route from Atlanta, reportedly struck runway lights while attempting to land in wind shear Saturday evening, damaging the planes underside and tail.

Though no injuries were reported among the 153 passengers and six crew members onboard, CLT closed the runway after the lights were damaged and debris was spotted on the tarmac.

An American Airlines representative said the aircraft has been taken out of service.
