In a recent announcement, United Airlines said it will halt its services at Santa Maria Public Airport (SMX). The decision will go into effect on October 5, because, according to an airline spokesperson, “the route did not meet our [United’s] expectations and is no longer sustainable.” The carrier currently provides two flights going out each day to San Francisco.
