UA Removes Newspapers From Int’l Flights

Citing a lack of interest from passengers, United Airlines plans to remove its selection of newspapers from all first- and business-class sections of international flights.

“Reading habits have changed,” said United spokesperson Maddie King. “Most customers are already connected when they’re traveling and are consuming news on mobile devices.”

King said that certain newspapers will remain available for reading in various United airport lounges and that Hemispheres, the carrier’s magazine, will still be present aboard flights.

Right - especially when UA's internet *never* works on long-haul properly! (EWR-BOM-EWR for example)

What a bunch of bullocks. On European flights BA, LX and others have at least 5 different newspapers at the gate for ALL passengers even in Y and many people like me take one. Another stupid eggs cuse from a US airline.

Thats a lame excuse to save money on papers. I have nit seen an international flight yet that the papers were all taken. Just another reason to fly foreign flags abroad.
