United to Provide International Premium Economy Sneak Peek

United to Provide International Premium Economy Sneak Peek
Ryan Boyd

United Airlines will reportedly be unveiling its Premium Economy seating as early as this month, including improved dining options and increased seat size, on select international flights. Rather than making it available at a later, unspecified date in 2018, as was previously reported by the carrier, United confirmed today that it would be unveiling the new cabins later this month.

United has not yet confirmed which route for which the retrofitted Boeing 777-200 would be available.

I hope the new chair won’t be available just on the ancient 772 though.

An April 20 article at SFGate says that the seating will be installed on their 767-300ER, 777-200, 777-300ER, and 787-10 jets. The CBJ article also says that all 777-300ER jets delivered from now on will have the Premium Plus seats from the get-go.

WAY past time for United to catch up with the rest of the industry. I fly IAD-FRA several times a year on United, and my employer doesn’t pay for business class (company policy is business class is available only for flights over 10 hours). Hopefully they’ll pony up for Premium Plus. Or if worst comes to worst, I’ll pay the difference myself.
