United Sends Rapper’s Dog for a Ride

Pet bound for Burbank gets mixed up with another and sent to Chicago instead.

A rap artist is lashing out at United Airlines after his dog was mistakenly sent to Chicago instead of their final destination of Burbank. CNN reports that the rapper, ScHoolboy Q, criticized the carrier online over the weekend mix-up.

The rapper was traveling from Missouri to Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) aboard United on Friday, July 14, with a layover in Denver. During the stop, the artist says that his pet got mixed up with another. As a result, his dog was sent to Chicago – while he met a different animal at baggage claim in California.

Immediately afterwards, the rap star took to Twitter to express his frustration with the airline. In a follow up text message to CNN, he expressed concern about his dog’s personal hygiene, adding that he may consider taking legal action.

In a statement, the carrier confirmed that they were able to reunite ScHoolboy Q with his dog by Friday night. A spokesperson said they “sincerely apologize” for the mistake and would provide a full refund for the dog’s shipping fees.

The mixed-up pup is not United’s first gaffe with an animal this year – an uncommon problem among carriers. In April, the carrier was accused of mishandling a Continental Giant rabbit after the large lagomorph died in transit from London to Chicago. The carrier acknowledged they would investigate the situation and “offer assistance” to the person who would have been the rabbit’s future owner.
