United Poaches Another AA Executive

A letter from American Airlines President Robert Isom to employees revealed that Andrew Nocella, the erstwhile SVP for network, planning, alliances and Sales for American Airlines, will be leaving his role at the carrier to accept a senior position with United Airlines. Rather than replace Nocella, Isom will put in place “an exceptionally talented group of leaders in place […] who already oversee those functions that reported to Andrew.”

In August, Scott Kirby left his role as President of American Airlines to take the same role at United.

While many of us will never get over how Doug Parker and Scott Kirby stole AA from Horton, then joined the race to the bottom, the reality is that they have done a nearly flawless job merging 2 very different airlines in to the world's largest carrier. Now that the damage has been done, it is not a surprise that some will take their spoils, move on.
