UFO Hotel Could Be the Coolest Place in the Universe, But It Needs Your Help to Beam Up

Luis Ramallo, owner of Alien Fresh Jerky, is trying to Kickstart his way into opening a new alien-themed hotel.

One sci-fi lover is trying to bring a little slice of the galaxy to Baker, Calif. Luis Ramallo, owner of the city’s Alien Fresh Jerky roadside shop, recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the construction of an out-of-this-world UFO hotel.

The UFO Hotel will resemble a mothership on a parcel of land designed to look like a space colony. Plans include 31 themed rooms, two floors, a restaurant, spa, rooftop bar, nightclub, gift shop, wedding spaces, entertainment venues, pool and pool bar.

Most rooms at the UFO Hotel are expected to be priced under $300 per night, with the VIP Presidential Suite priced at $750 per night. Once guests step into the hotel, they will be in another world — a world of an alien future. All the windows will look out onto scenes from space or alien planets rather than out into Baker.

The room themes will revolve around space and space ships, from an asteroid field and floating city to a weapons room and transporter room. The entrance to the hotel is designed to look like a portal to another world, a la Stargate.

Ramallo hopes to collect $175,000 through this Kickstarter campaign, but that’s only the start of what he needs. The cost for the entire project is estimated at about $30 million. Ramallo already owns the land he plans to use for the hotel and has obtained site approval. The money raised in this Kickstarter campaign will go toward detailed plans, construction drawings and permits.

Hahahahaha, I thought they already had these concepts in Japan. They're called love hotels.

The presentation on K*ckstarter leaves a bad aftertaste. People should contribute to the planning costs of an investment and shouldn't get shares or company shares for their payments. This is not a charity project but only a project to fund the risky starting phase. With a revenue of approx. 300 USD/night/room this coul be profitable if location/concept are right. Therefore the better/fairer way would be to ask large hotel groups for funding and then having them as partner companies. This would also generate access to their reservation systems as well as customer base. That said I think "contributing" to that project without gaining anything back is not a brilliant idea.
